Learning and Development
We run a number of Conversion Courses in NCI aimed at transitioning people back in the work place, and ideally up-skill them where there are skills shortages in the economy. Last year as part of the Career Bridge Module, I wanted to intersperse the normal presentations we give with a guest speaker knowledgeable in the areas of interview preparation and presentation. After making numerous enquiries, the one company that kept being mentioned was that of ‘The Communications Clinic’. They listened to every detail, and tailored a presentation that hit the exact tone for the audience. It was extremely comprehensive and got everyone thinking about common mistakes that everyone makes at interview and how to avoid them in the future. I received excellent feedback from the group. Students who have now secured employment commented that guidance on how to approach competency based questions was one of the highlights of the presentation. Outside of the practical information given, their personal and genuinely empathetic approach really stands out, and I know NCI will be working The Communications Clinic again in the future.
